Research
Three lines, all concerned with keeping patients physiologically stable through surgery.
Perioperative hemodynamics and hypotension exposure
How intraoperative hypotension should be measured (MAP thresholds, time-weighted average, area under the threshold), whether prediction algorithms such as the Hypotension Prediction Index change patient outcomes rather than just the exposure metric, and where the evidence chain from 2007 to today still has gaps. A randomized trial comparing the Hypotension Prediction Index with a high mean arterial pressure target was published in Anesthesiology in 2026.
Microcirculation and organ protection
With the NTUH Center of Microcirculation Medical Research (NCMMR): sedative choice and its effect on microcirculatory flow and organ injury, and fluid strategy in transplantation.
Hemodynamic monitoring in difficult positions and difficult physiology
Non-invasive surrogates for cardiac output: airway pressure during prone-position spine surgery; dynamic preload variables in liver cirrhosis.
